Georgina Cares has two different types of funding. Our regular application process and our Compassion Funding.
In order to be considered for our regular funding, an application must be filled out. These forms are readily available at many Town of Georgina buildings such as all library branches and arenas.
Attached to the application form are the guidelines. In order for an application to be reviewed, these guidelines must be adhered to and all relevant paperwork must be supplied. This paperwork includes a current Notice of Assessment (for income verification) and a letter from the family or a nominator, identifying the basis of the funding request.
All forms are submitted to the program administrator who then takes them to the Board of Directors for review.
Our other source of funding is our Compassion Fund. Established in 2007, this is a one-time funding opportunity for families who are experiencing significant or catastrophic changes. If a family is going through a difficult time…medical, house fire, death…funding may be available to help eliminate some of the financial stress during this time.
Help normally comes in the form of gift certificates. Gas cards for a family driving back and forth to a hospital, Grocery cards for a family in need. Georgina Cares has also paid for the cost of a hall rental when family and friends have held a fundraiser. This request is generally made with a detailed letter, outlining the family’s current situation and the basis of the request. Additional information is also submitted including event posters, media clippings, etc.
